Veganer Burger mit Salat und Pommes

FOR THE OVEN POTATOES

1. Preheat oven to 220 °C. Peel (sweet) potatoes and cut into evenly sized sticks. Place in a bowl and mix with 1 teaspoon of paprika powder, optionally a pinch of chili, polenta and olive oil.

FOR THE VEGGIE BURGER

If you did not receive a BOHNI burger, you can follow these instructions.

2. Boil the lentils from your jar in water and vegetable stocks for about 20 minutes until very soft (they should almost fall apart). Add splashes of water if it gets too dry. When ready, get rid of excessive liquid and cool in a bowl.

3. Add a bit of warm water to your chia seeds. Let it rest until it becomes “chia egg”.

4. Prepare the ingredients for the burger: finely dice the onion(s), crush a few cashews (rest is for the cashew cream), and chop the garlic.

5. Now mix nutritional yeast, diced onion, crushed cashews, chopped garlic, red lentils, "chia egg" and oats. With wet hands form the mixture into small patties (about 1-2 cm thick).

6. Heat olive oil in a frying pan and fry the patties over medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side until golden.

FOR THE CASHEW CREAM

7. Bring a little water to a boil and pour the boiling water over the cashews in a small bowl so that they are just covered with water. Let stand briefly. Now remove about half the water and blend it with a small piece of garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.

8. Wash the salad. Arrange the patties, (sweet) potato fries, salad and cashew cream together and enjoy your dinner!

Storage

This vegan burger with salad and fries can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. To revive the recipe, simply add a bit of water before reheating in the microwave or on the stove. This will help to restore the texture and flavor of the dish, ensuring that it tastes just as delicious as the day it was made.

Fun fact

Fun fact: Did you know that the first veggie burger was created in London in 1982? It was made using a mixture of tofu, wheat, and vegetables, and was a hit with vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Since then, veggie burgers have become a popular choice for anyone looking for a healthier and more sustainable alternative to traditional burgers.
